If you are arriving by car, we will send you directions where we are situated in Saint Rémy de Provence. If you are planning to rent a car on arrival, Avignon TGV station has all the major car rental companies (Hertz, Avis, Eurocar etc). It is also possible to rent a car at all the nearby airports.
Most people fly to Paris and then take the TGV train to Avignon (2.5 hours) Avignon is on the new fast line from Paris to Marseille. Train tickets can be bought at www.raileurope.com
Train : during summer months there is a direct train from London and Ashford to Avignon every Saturday. Otherwise it is necessary to change at either Lille or Paris. With the new fast TGV tracks it takes 2.5 hours from Paris and 4 hours from Lille.
Ryan Air have flights to Nimes from London Stanstead, London Luton, East Midlands and Liverpool. From Nimes there are regular trains to Avignon (30 minutes). See the tourist office website www.ot-nimes.fr for where to stay in Nimes if you arrive Saturday evening. It is also possible to fly to Montpellier, which is one hour from Avignon by local train or 1 hour by car.
British Airways and Easy Jet have low cost flights to Marseille.
Ryan Air also have flights to Marseille from London Stanstead, Glasgow and Bournemouth. From Marseille Airport it is either possible to rent a car ( around 1 hour by motorway) or take the shuttle bus to Marseille and then the train to Avignon by TGV (30 minutes).
Flybe also have a limited number of flights to Avignon airport from Southamptom and Exeter.
www.aerlingus.com fly into Marseille from March to October. From Marseille airport it is either possible to rent a car (around 1 hour by motorway from the centre) or take the shuttle bus to Marseille and then the train to Avignon (30-40minutes)
